NFPA 70B Compliance
The purpose of this standard is to provide for the practical safeguarding of persons, property, and processes from risk associated with failure, breakdown, or malfunction, as well as a means to establish a condition of maintenance of electrical equipment and systems for safety and reliability. (NFPA 70B 1.2)
What is the NFPA 70B?
Electrical systems and equipment degrade over time. Thermal cycling, insulation breakdown, and mechanical degradation can all cause equipment failure, and even dangerous faults. Older systems with changing load demands, as well as any equipment that runs continuously (3 hours or more, as defined by the NFPA 70E) can substantially increase the wear and tear on your electrical system. Equipment failure leads to unplanned downtime and loss of production, in addition to damage to your expensive electrical assets. It can also compromise the safety of the plant and employees!
Why does this matter to me?
Induction Electric specializes in system surveys and helping owners and/or plant managers establish an effective Electrical Maintenance Program (EMP).
Did you know that our level one certified thermographer and master electrician can evaluate your system during peak operation with minimal disruption to your daily operation?
This will give you a snapshot of how your equipment is doing, highlighting anything that could be a potential issue or failure point, and will provide documentation to establish your very own EMP. We will also provide your specific equipment’s required maintenance requirements, as well as maintenance intervals in the report so that you know exactly what your maintenance plan needs to include.
Our electricians and NFPA 70E arc-flash certified, OSHA -10 certified, and trained in lock-out-tag-out. This means that we can also correct any potential issues BEFORE they cause unplanned disruptions.
No on staff electrician? No problem! Once the survey is done, Induction Electric can help you administer your EMP by scheduling out the maintenance required in advance for your facility’s specific equipment. This keeps your equipment in tip top shape, provides compliance, and keeps your facility running smoothly for years to come.
